Blue Dog began 9 years ago in Abingdon as place where children could enjoy after school art lessons and weekend workshops. The drop in ceramics painting and adult classes were added to expand the creative possibilities we could offer. Then the idea hit us to add coffee, smoothies and sandwiches. We chose a more centralized location near Bel Air which allowed us to include fine coffees, smoothies and sandwiches as well as a drive up window for convenient service. And of course, we still offer after school art lessons, workshops and ceramic painting.

Owner, Rog Hicks holds a duel degree from The Philadelphia College Of Art in Ceramics and Art Therapy. She has been teaching for over 17 years and has worked with students of all ages and abilities. In addition to running Blue Dog, she paints murals and creates uniquely designed and custom painted furniture. She is also the art teacher at the Harford Friends School.

Café manager, Kelly Clark, efficiently tends to the daily operations of Blue Dog Café. Because of her years of fine cuisine experience, specializing in Tai food, she has created Blue Dog’s unique sandwich offerings. Her quiches are becoming well known.

This combined with a unique atmosphere and terrific staff makes BLUE DOG CAFÉ the place to eat, drink and create!
